WRITER & CREATOR

Bio

My name is J.J. Day and I grew up in a very small town called, Wingham, in Ontario, Canada. I am currently 34 years old and I am a storyteller.

Ever since I was a young girl I loved to create stories, whether it was in a book, or played out in the land of Barbie & Friends, Jurassic World, and Life in the Jungle. Sometimes, I would get the urge to combine one or all of the above and create an alternate world where Barbie (aka human) meets the Dinos and Jungle Animals. That was the earliest recollection I have of my creative mind. As I grew older and the world of Barbie became less cool, I switched into the world of gaming with "The Sims" and all of its franchises and I got LOST. I loved the idea that I could immerse myself in a world that was separate but still connected to my outside world of stress and chaos. I would definitely say it became an addiction. I created my life within the game, where I could control everything. I lived IN the game. However, one day, a thought entered my mind and gave me the reality check I needed. All of those methods of imagination and creativity that I used and was still using, although were fun and entertaining for me, were not in fact MY life. I was being entertained but was wasting hours upon hours designing a fake existence and if I wanted more control over my own REAL existence, I was going to have to come back to reality. So, I started brainstorming ideas for how to go about doing that and I kept coming back to being a writer. I heard in a podcast the other day that a writer has the best gift in the world. Where most people get stuck and lost trying to think about designing their lives and trying to logically figure things out, a writer doesn't have to think nearly as hard, for they have been given the gift of story-making. As writers, we literally have the ability to write ourselves -- and others -- the best life possible. We have the ability to imagine and create beauty and magic and use them to redesign and reshape our entire future, and even rewrite our pasts from negative experiences into more uplifting and positive lessons that will be more beneficial to our lives going forward.
